First Teaser Released for The Handmaid’s Tale (Watch)
“So many things are forbidden now.”
Hulu has released the first look at "The Handmaid's Tale," a new series based on the acclaimed dystopian novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood.
Elizabeth Moss stars as Offred, a handmaid in the repressive theocracy of Gilead. After a widespread fall in birthrates, fertile women are indoctrinated and forced to be concubines, or "handmaids," to men.
Although the story has been adapted before, commenters on the trailer feel the story is even more important now, citing the election of Donald Trump as president and the subsequent attacks on women's health that are expected under his administration.
The series is available April 26 to stream on Hulu.
