The Kennedy Center has announced its 2018 honorees and among those being celebrated are Cher, Reba McEntire composer Phillip Glass and jazz musician Wayne Shorter will also be honored. While the Kennedy Center usually only honors individually artists, this year they'll pay special tribute to Hamilton, awarding Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, music director Alex Lacamoire and choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler on the show's behalf, making these artists the youngest honorees in history.

While the president is usually in attendance at the ceremony, Trump skipped last year's festivities when several of the honorees threatened not to attend in protest, saying that he was passing on attending "to allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction." While a White House spokesperson has said they are unsure whether or not Trump plans to attend this year's ceremony, things could certainly get awkward quick on the red carpet if he does.
