The '80s drama is more relevant than ever.
1985 is being regarded as a nostalgic masterpiece. The black-and-white indie follows a young man as he returns home to his conservative Texas family for the holidays. During his visit, he struggles to tell his family he has AIDS.
In an exclusive clip from the film, Adrian (Cory Michael Smith) has a heart-to-heart with his mom, Eileen (Virginia Madsen). And mom has a secret of her own. When it came time to vote for Reagan, she went against her husband's wishes and prioritized equality.
1985 is currently in limited theatrical release and will have special screenings in select cities for World AIDS Day on December 1. The film will also be available on DVD and digital platforms this December.
