To raise awareness of Trump's discriminatory and unlawful ban of trans people in the military, MTV President Chris McCarthy invited trans members of the armed forces to walk the VMAs red carpet last night. Six trans servicemen and women joined in the awards show, accompanied on the carpet by GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis.
Sterling James Crutcher, Air Force Airman First Class; Logan B. Ireland, Air Force Staff Sergeant; Akira Wyatt, Navy Corpsman Petty Officer 3rd Class; Brynn Tannehill, Former Navy Lt. Commander; Laila Ireland, Retired Army veteran; and Jennifer Peace, U.S. Army Captain all had the opportunity to speak with journalists at the VMAs about Trump's unconsitutional actions and his frightening regime. "Today the armed forces are open to everyone, regardless of your race, gender, religion, or anything else. If you're willing to serve our country, and you're among the most qualified in the nation, you should be welcome in the United States armed forces just like anyone else," explains Capt. Jennifer Peace in the video.
