Sigourney Weaver Owns the First Trailer for Netflix's Defenders
Weaver will torment Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage on Marvel's newest show.
Next month, Netflix and Marvel's superfriend show The Defenders, which brings together the streaming service's four superhero shows, finally premieres. On Friday, Netflix debuted the first Defenders trailer at San Diego Comic Con and while seeing Krysten Ritter's deadpan Jessica Jones mock Daredevil's (Charlie Cox) horns, the real star of the trailer is Sigourney Weaver as the villainous Alexandra. Weaver is in full-on power-shawl, subzero bitch mode and we can't wait to see what devious plot she's got up the sleeves of her inevitable pantsuit.
Defenders showrunner desribed Marco Ramirez desribed Weaver's character as an "utter badass", adding:
"Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She's everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.. I'm sorry. I can only say a bunch of adjectives right now."
The Defenders hits Netflix on August 18.
