The comedian released a polarizing portrait by photographer Tyler Shields.
"Tyler and I are not afraid to do images that make noise," said Kathy Griffin, while on set with photographer Tyler Shields. Together, the noise-making duo created an image that certainly delivers on buzz, featuring Griffin posing with President Trump's bloody severed head.
"First I'm an artist," the comedian clarifies in the behind-the-scenes video, aware of the inevitable backlash her portrait would face. The two also joke about having to move to Mexico once the image finally gets released.
Earlier today, TMZ published the polarizing shot, and in true form, the Internet erupted with heated commentary--some admiring Griffin for her typical boldness and others condemning her for supporting a gruel act of violence.
Despite the controversy, Griffin supported Shields' work, calling him a great photographer and filmmaker. "Obviously I do not condone any violence by my fans to others or anyone, ever," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm merely the Mocker in Chief."
