Sean Spicer Makes Reference to Melissa McCarthy’s SNL Portrayal During Press Briefing

Melissa McCarthy, Sean Spicer

Life imitates art.

Few things have been as bright of a light during these dark political times as Melissa McCarthy's impersonation of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live. From the gum chewing, to dolly explanations, McCarthy has given us hilarious outbursts as Spicer, and has never broken character.

But Spicer may be one of the few people in Trump's White House to take the SNL spoofs with a grain of salt. Just today Spicer referenced McCarthy's crazy version of him, when talking about the newly released jobs report. "I mean, don't make me make the podium move," he joked when getting a bit firm with reporters. The only question is, would he pick up the podium and slam into reporters a la McCarthy's first cold open as Spicer, or in the more controlled podium Segway during her second?
