Sometimes it's the smallest gestures that leave the most lasting effects on children. In a new Halloween public service announcement titled, "My Heroes," a child's simple request to dress up as their favorite hero for the holiday could have been a problem for some people. Instead, the child's parents are completely accepting, saving any concerns they have about what other people will think quiet, and keeping their ever-watchful eyes open.
It seems like a typical Halloween evening for a family of four living the American Dream. Pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating as Wonder Woman and Batman. But during the PSA the father can't keep the worry off his face, even with his wife offering constant reassurance. It's unclear what has him so upset until the end of the PSA, where, as he puts his sleeping children to bed, it's revealed that it was his son who dressed up as Wonder Woman, and his daughter who went as Batman. Though it's clear that the father still has a journey and years of acceptance ahead of him, he's on the right path as he whispers, "my heroes," as he turns the light off and closes the door.
