David Gest has died at 62.
Gest, 62, an entertainer and music producer, was best known for his turbulent marriage to Liza Minnelli and his recent appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK.
According to Metropolitan Police, Gest was found dead at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westferry Circus. The police were called on Tuesday morning at 10:17 A.M. because of the unexplained death of a man in his 60s. Gest was pronounced deceased upon arrival. The Metropolitan Police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Gest's passing, and his next of kin are being notified.
The music producer married Minnelli in 2002, with Michael Jackson at his side and Elizabeth Taylor at hers. Shortly after, Gest alleged that Minnelli was physically abusive, and their divorce proceedings took on a life all their own. Considered one of the dirtiest celebrity divorces, the proceedings only came to an end in 2007.
Gest released a memoir, Simply the Gest, in 2007, and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2016 for 13 days before leaving for medical reasons. His brief stay was made more memorable when Tiffany "New York" Pollard, best known for VH1's I Love New York, misunderstood Angie Bowie and thought David Gest had passed, instead of Bowie's ex-husband.
