As an iconic, fondly-remembered piece of TV's past, Supermarket Sweep embodied the '90s. Soccer moms in chunky sweaters, scrunchies, and frizzy hair dominated the game's landscape with their encyclopedic knowledge of grocery stores, and now it's Melissa McCarthy's turn.
In the unaired skit from her most recent hosting gig at SNL, McCarthy is super-fan Padget, and knows exactly how to win the final challenge on Supermarket Spree. If you aren't familiar with the original show (which, why?), contestants have two minutes to race through the store and fill a cart with the most expensive items they can find. Of course this was before every Wal-Mart had an electronics and jewelry section, but Padget still knows how to read between the lines. Any item in the store? How about an industrial meat slicer from the deli counter? How about the opposing contestant's clothes?
