We've been teased with pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal's impressively ripped body in his new boxing-centric drama, Southpaw, for months. Now we get to see him in action.
In the film, Gyllenhaal plays Billy Hope, Junior Middleweight Champion, who lives for the thrill of the fight. His wife, the un-aging Rachel McAdams, rightfully worries about his wellbeing and their daughter growing up surrounded by that kind of environment.
So of course tragedy strikes, families are sundered, and paths to self-realization are taken with the help from a down-and-out old-timer who knows more about boxing than anyone.
