Many saw Madonna's tumble at the Brit Awards this week, and of course, the internet once again blasted the singer for being too old to perform. (We'll just ignore the fact that she's 56 and has a better body than basically all of us.)
In her Rolling Stone cover issue, Madonna confronted this ageism.
"It's still the one area where you can totally discriminate against somebody, and talk shit because of their age. Only females, though. Not males...No one would dare to say a degrading remark about being black or dare to say a degrading remark on Instagram about someone being gay."
Hmm, not sure about that one, Madge (there are plenty of biggots on social media), but we know what you're getting at.
Madonna's latest album will be released next month, and will continue to challenge societal expectations of women.
"I don't follow the rules," the Queen of Pop said, "I never did, and I'm not going to start." Amen!
