Throughout Portlandia's five seasons on IFC, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein have had spectacular chemistry on screen. But none of that chemistry has ever really transmuted into sexual tension.

But what if it did?

In the trailer for the show's sixth season, we see what would happen if the pair decided to knock boots. It's exactly what you're thinking.

Brownstein gets Fred going by recounting a Talk of the Town piece from The New Yorker, they push their monogramed twin beds together, and they talk their way through it, lights on and facing each other.

According to Indiewire, the show's going back to its sketch comedy format, ditching the serialized set up they had last season.

Portlandia returns for its sixth season January 21 on IFC.
