Singer Brooke Eden is changing the world of country music, and thatās not by accident. The proud lesbian, wife, mother, and āGiddy Upā artist is here to move hearts and minds, all while becoming the person she needed most growing up.
āIāve listened to country music my whole life and remember never having someone to look up to in my favorite genre,ā says Eden. āItās my mission to normalize same-sex love and family in country music and in the South.ā
That desire led the singer to perform at this yearās WorldPride in Washington, D.C., as the only country artist at the event. But getting there wasnāt easy for the once-closeted musician. āWhen I met my now-wife [Hilary Hoover] in 2015, we were told we needed to stay in the closet if I wanted to keep my career,ā she recalls. āI believed that lie for five years.ā
Last year, Eden and Hoover welcomed their son, Beckham, and Eden wonāt be hiding ever again.
āEvery day we live proudly, we win.ā @brookeedenmusic
