The 2025 Out100: Brooke Eden

Singer Brooke Eden is changing the world of country music, and that’s not by accident. The proud lesbian, wife, mother, and “Giddy Up” artist is here to move hearts and minds, all while becoming the person she needed most growing up.

“I’ve listened to country music my whole life and remember never having someone to look up to in my favorite genre,” says Eden. “It’s my mission to normalize same-sex love and family in country music and in the South.”

That desire led the singer to perform at this year’s WorldPride in Washington, D.C., as the only country artist at the event. But getting there wasn’t easy for the once-closeted musician. “When I met my now-wife [Hilary Hoover] in 2015, we were told we needed to stay in the closet if I wanted to keep my career,” she recalls. “I believed that lie for five years.”

Last year, Eden and Hoover welcomed their son, Beckham, and Eden won’t be hiding ever again.

“Every day we live proudly, we win.” @brookeedenmusic
