As the creator, host, and executive producer of The Middle, public radio’s only national call-in show, Jeremy Hobson is “focused on elevating those in our country who are willing to meet in the middle, knowing that our democracy only works if we’re listening to one another,” he says.
The show, which began airing weekly in 2023, is now on more than 400 public radio stations nationwide and SiriusXM. It also has a podcast, and in 2025, it launched a spin-off podcast, One Thing Trump Did, a weekly deep dive into one action by Donald Trump.
“But what makes me proudest was completing my first AIDS/LifeCycle bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles,” Hobson says. “It was amazing to be part of the ‘love bubble’ and meet so many incredible people.”
Hobson, a gay man, credits his “small but mighty team” and “amazing husband” with helping him overcome The Middle’s challenges. He wants to continue “to send the message that listening to each other even when we disagree is not weakness. It’s strength.” @listentothemiddle
