Out100: Prabal Gurung

Fashion Designer

Photography by Ryan Pfluger at his showroom in New York on September 23, 2015. Styling by Amelia Schussler. Groomer: Angela DiCarlo.

When a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal last April, Prabal Gurung was one of the first boldface names to launch a campaign to help populations affected by the disaster. Through Shikshya, an organization he co-founded, the New York-based designer, who is from Kathmandu, managed to raise more than $600,000 for his home country, and has used his craft as a platform to bring attention to issues close to his heart, including children's education. "I was grateful and humbled by the unwavering support and love that I got from everyone, especially the fashion industry," says Gurung. "It was humanity at its best."
