The Moment: November 25, 1992: Disney's Aladdin premieres, with songs by lyricist Howard Ashman. February 26, 2014: The Aladdin stage musical premieres on Broadway.

As president of Disney Theatrical Group, producer Thomas Schumacher (left) has found acceptance inside the Magic Kingdom for the past 27 years. He continues to bring that open attitude to a global audience, as with the latest Tony Award-winning Aladdin musical. While writing the adaptation, Chad Beguelin (right) found an opportunity to restore the "lost songs" written by gay lyricist Howard Ashman, including the solemn number "Proud of Your Boy," which, for him, has "another level to it [related to] being gay...and wondering what your parents are going to think of you."
