The Moment: November 25, 1992: Disney's Aladdin premieres, with songs by lyricist Howard Ashman. February 26, 2014: The Aladdin stage musical premieres on Broadway.

While writing the adaptation, Chad Beguelin (right) found an opportunity to restore the "lost songs" written by gay lyricist Howard Ashman, including the solemn number "Proud of Your Boy," which, for him, has "another level to it [related to] being gay...and wondering what your parents are going to think of you."
