"I spent this year behind the scenes," says Calpernia Addams, who recorded with singer-songwriter Patrick Wolf in London, and trained Jared Leto for his Oscar-winning role as Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, for which he thanked Addams in his acceptance speech in March.
Of the woman her image pays homage to, Addams says, "Christine Jorgensen was an imperfect representative for the trans community, thrust into the spotlight by circumstances beyond her control. While I don't agree with everything she stood for, I respect the strength and grace she exhibited as the world put her under
its microscope. "
