For five seasons, Jonathan Del Arco played the coroner Dr. Morales on TNT’s The Closer, and he reprised the role this summer for the show’s spin-off, Major Crimes. The Uruguay-born actor’s activism includes being the West Coast fundraiser and spokesperson for GLSEN and serving as a celebrity surrogate for President Obama on the campaign trail.
Jason Moore’s past projects run the gamut from soapy (he’s directed episodes of Dawson’s Creek) to fantastical (he scored a Tony nom for directing Avenue Q). In 2012, the Arkansas native added the big screen to his résumé, helming this fall’s Pitch Perfect, a musical comedy about an all-girl a cappella group.
After appearing in productions of Rent and Spring Awakening, Andy Mientus’s star is officially on the rise. This year, the young Off-Broadway thesp snagged a role in the MCC Theater’s musical revival of Carrie. But expect to see a lot more of the actor in 2013, when he makes his TV debut as a series regular on season 2 of NBC’s Smash playing Kyle, a Brooklyn writer with hopes of making it big on the Great White Way.
Over the past decade, actor and singer Michael Arden has transitioned from Broadway (playing Tom Sawyer in a 2003 revival of Big River) to TV (Bones and Nurse Jackie) and film (the 2011 thriller Source Code). It was in 2012 though that Arden landed his debut role as a TV series regular, starring as Patrick, opposite Charlie Sheen, in the new FX comedy Anger Management.
