"The victims never saw a cent," she told TMZ. "We go through these emotions every day."

Tony Hughes was the twelfth victim of Jeffry Dahmer, and his mother, Shirley, has a few thoughts on Netflix's popular series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story taking home a Best Actor win for Evan Peters for his portrayal of the serial killer.

Hughes told TMZ that Peters should have used his acceptance speech to address the families who are still suffering from Dahmer's crimes. Either that, or maybe Hollywood should put an end to telling glorified stories about serial killers in the first place.

Instead, Peters said he hoped "something good" would come from this win, in which Hughes said nothing would and that the series only added to the grief that families still suffered from Dahmer's acts.

"There's a lot of sick people around the world, and people winning acting roles from playing killers keeps the obsession going and this makes sick people thrive on the fame," she said.

Elsewhere in Peters' speech, he noted how hard it was to portray the role. In response, Hughes wondered why he took it in the first place and suggests that maybe he shouldn't have played the role out of respect for the families still living with their heartbreak.

This isn't the first time Hughes has been vocal against the show. She previously told The Guardian that she didn't understand how they could get away with telling the story as it was. Now in her 80s, the grieving mother noted the portrayal of her son in the show wasn't accurate, and that "it didn't happen like that."

At the end of it all, Hughes says, "It's a shame that people can take our tragedy and make money. The victims never saw a cent. We go through these emotions every day."
