Protestors of New GOP Health Care Bill Throw Queer Dance Party Outside Mitch McConnell's House

"If they're not working for the American people, then we will be out here werkin."

The newly proposed GOP health care bill would strip coverage from 22 million Americans, with LGBTQ people--specifically trans individuals--facing especially targeted cuts. That's why around 50 LGBTQ citizens and allies in Washington D.C. headed over to Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell's house on July 4th to have a really gay dance party in protest.

McConnell is the key player behind the proposed bill, which was organized in secret. He had hoped to get a Senate vote on the legislation, which would dismantle Obamacare, before the Congressional recess for this week's July holiday.

"What I've been hearing the entire recess is people telling me to be strong, that they have a lot of concerns about the health care bill in the Senate, they want me to keep working on it, but they don't want me to support it in its current form," Susan Collins, a Republican Senator in Maine, told CNN.

The revelling protestors wore rainbow suspenders, crop-tops, and other things that innately scream, "I'm queer and don't support this health care bill."

"We're out here to send a clear message to the Senate, to Mitch McConnell and his cronies who wrote the bill that we will not tolerate them writing a bill that is not inclusive of all Americans," dance organizer Firas Nasr told City Paper."If they're not working for the American people, then we will be out here werkin."

The bill would greatly impact health care availability for trans and other LGBTQ Americans. Rebecca Kling, from the National Center for Transgender Equality, told City Paper, "The health care bill that's currently in the House and the Senate would be a huge step back both for trans people specifically and for all of us who care about the health and the well-being of our neighbors."
