While the state of Georgia as a whole is in the news for bigoted legislation making its way to the governor, there are commendable isolated incidents of acceptance, like at a Kroger grocery store in Athens.
The store has a unisex bathroom and to accompany it they have a sign reading:
We have a UNISEX bathroom because sometimes gender specific toilets put others into uncomfortable situations. And since we have a lot of friends coming to see us, we want to provide a place for our friends who are:
- Dads with daughters
- Moms with sons
- Parents with disabled children
- Those in the LGBTQ community
- Adults with aging parents who may be mentally or physically disabled
THANK YOU for helping us provide a safe environment for EVERYONE!

And that's how simple the argument for unisex bathrooms is. Though the main point of contention is how it affects transgender individuals, it also makes it so parents don't have to send their children into bathrooms alone and much more. According to the Huffington Post Kroger borrowed some of their sign's language from a similar posting at Pure Pizza in Charlotte, North Carolina, ironically one of the other states in the news for their exceptionally bigoted legislation.
Thank you Kroger and Pure Pizza for making this decision so easily understandable.
