Ariana Grande Sings “Natural Woman” in Heartfelt Aretha Franklin Tribute

Yesterday, August 16, Aretha Franklin passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 76. Paying homage to the Queen of Soul, Ariana Grande performed "Natural Woman" with the Roots on The Tonight Show.

Initially, Grande planned to promote her highly anticipated new album, Sweetener, which was released today.

When asked to pay tribute to Franklin, who Grande admits is one of her heroes, Grande was apprehensive. According to Variety, she was afraid she'd be too emotional to sing. However, Roots bandleader Questlove persuaded Grande to perform a Franklin song.
