The queer producer sings for the first time ever on "Piel."
All in one day, queer producer Arca has released a new single "Piel," announced a forthcoming album and revealed that they're signed to XL Recordings (Adele, Beck). The single is the first time we've heard Arca's singing on a track, though he's always been on a journey to show us fresh, innovative ways to unveil his soul.
The album will be self-titled, Arca, which furthers the project's theme of self-discovery. In November, Arca, made a mysterious casting call for an unknown project, alongside longtime collaborator Jesse Kanda, and the only requirement was that you be "comfortable being partially nude on camera." Arca's 13-song tracklist includes the previously released "Sin Rumbo."

In a statement about "Piel" Arca said, "Here's my voice and all my guts: feel free to judge it. It's like a bullfight: you're watching emotional violence for pleasure. So this is a character who, almost as a mockery of the transaction, goes uncomfortably deep, into self-mutilation. 'You want gore? Here's gore.'"
