After teasing us with her rendition of theFuller House theme song, selling out Terminal 5 in NYC last month and dropping E*MO*TION, her danciest and most indie-pop-infused album to date, we all got Carly Rae on the mind.
Today, the smiley songstress dropped the Petra Collins-directed clip for her track "Boy Problems," arguably the best one on Jepsen's third album. The sultry and tongue-in-cheek video has some great ingredients: Take the iconic slumber party scene from Grease, turn the lighting way down, update the characters with the most on-point and current mix when it comes to both ethnicity and body mass index, and throw in some glitter along with a bunch of retro screen wipes and cutouts.
So what do you get? A throwback look that's throwing back to practically every decade that's come before, but we're not mad about it. And to keep things extra current, there's also a brilliant all-about-me moment when a sad-looking waif of a girl starts taking selfies in her sparkly funeral casket.
Carly Rae knows we've all got boy problems. We'd love to be part of this slumber party to get over them!
