It's once again time for the GLAAD Media Awards, where the LGBTQ+ advocacy organization recognizes media for accurate and inclusive representation that pushes depictions of the LGBTQ+ community forward.

Some of the big nominees include Eternals, tick, tick... BOOM!, and West Side Story in the Outstanding Film - Wide Release category, Dickinson, Gentefied, Love, Victor, The Other Two, and Special in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, and Pose, Batwoman, Grey's Anatomy, and Star Trek: Discovery in the Drama Series category.

Musicians like Brandi Carlile, Lil Nas X, Demi Lovato, Halsey, girl in red, Jake Wesley Rogers, Joy Oladokun, and Lucy Dacus were nominated in two musical categories.

Overall, there are 246 nominees in 30 categories this year. HBO and HBO Max lead the networks, with 19 nominations, followed by Netflix with 17. Hulu comes in a distant third at 7 nominations.

It was a good year for trans representation, as 18 of the 30 shows nominated in the Outstanding Comedy Series, Drama Series, and New Series categories feature trans characters, including Pose, 9-1-1-: Lone Star, The L Word: Generation Q, Star Trek: Discovery, Saved by the Bell, Work in Progress, With Love, and Supergirl.

Additionally nominated movies and reality and documentary programs like West Side Story, Port Authority, The Lady and the Dale, Legendary, RuPaul's Drag Race and MTV's Following: Bretman Rock all also featured trans and nonbinary people or characters.

In the Outstanding Print Article category, Out was nominated for the story "The Hearts of Venezuela" by Taylor Hirschberg. Hirschberg, as well as photographer Cody Mann, went to several cities in Latin America to document the lives of LGBTQ+ Venezuelans who had left the country to try to find better lives in other countries. The Advocate was also nominated in the Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage category.

The 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards will have two ceremonies, one in Los Angeles on April 2, and one in New York City on May 6.
