UPDATE: Don Lemon explained what's next for him since this story went live.

Seems like it's time for a new guard.

On the heels of Ellen DeGeneres announcing the impending end of her longrunning show, Don Lemon is also making some changes.

On Friday afternoon he teased fans that there were changes afoot.

"Tonight I have an announcement about the show," he said in a clip posted to his Twitter account from his walking desk. "End of an era. Yep. Should I say that? So tune in tonight at 10 and I'll tell you what's up. "

In the broadcast, true to his word Lemon announced the end of an era.

"It's been really, really great," he said. "This is the last night that will be CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. So, I appreciate all the years of CNN Tonight With Don Lemon, but changes are coming, and I will fill you in."

Later on social media, Lemon clarified that he would not be leaving CNN.

"I didn't say I was leaving," he said in a second video. "I just said it was the end of an era for CNN Tonight With Don Lemon. I'm not leaving CNN, so you will have to tune in Monday 10:00 to see. That's it. So relax, I'm not leaving. I'm not leaving."

Lemon has worked with CNN since 2006, having started with CNN Tonight in 2014. During that time, he's also hosted the CNN New Year's Eve special and became a vocal critic of the Trump administration. Earlier this week, Lemon also announced that he and Chris Cuomo would launch a podcast called The Handoff. That project is set to feature candid conversations between the two were they "talk politics and get personal."
