Hello Out readers, did you watch last night's Oscars?

This was definitely a strange Oscars year, with no breakaway favorites and the whole Karla Sofía Gascón hateful tweets controversy. But the 97th Academy Awards have now taken place and Awards Season is officially over.

It was a big night for Sean Baker's AnoraAnora, which took home five awards, including Best Screenplay, Director, Editing, and Picture for Baker, and Best Actress for lead Mikey Madison.

Several winners thanked their partners in their speeches, and one winner, Paul Tazewell, made history as the first Black man to win an Oscar for Best Costume Design. Tazewell, who has an Emmy for designing costumes for The Wiz Live! and a Tony for designing costumes for Hamilton was previously nominated for his costumes for 2022's West Side Story.

Emilia Pérez won two Oscars, including Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña, who became the first American of Dominican origin to win an Oscar.

One of the biggest highlights of the Oscars was the stunning opening performance by Wicked stars and Oscar nominees Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who sang a medly of "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz, "Home" from The Wiz, and "Defying Gravity" from Wicked.
