Could an Emmy be in Taylor Schilling's future?

The out-and-proud actress is turning from comedy to drama in the emotional new series Dear Edward on Apple TV+.

Dear Edward follows a 12-year-old boy who survives a devastating plane crash that kills every other passenger on the flight, including his family.

"I loved this whole world where there were all these people who had this idea of what life is supposed to be. They have to accept their reality of their circumstances. I'm playing this woman who really wants to have a baby and that's not available to her. The courage to start again is so brave," Schilling tells Out.

Since her coming out a few years ago, Schilling has dabbled into multiple genres of acting and connecting with different types of audiences around the world.

"I really care. I really care so much about being useful in some capacity to myself and to other people. We need stories to understand ourselves. I'm really honored every time I get to represent anybody. All the characters I play... I feel like it's need to be in the world."

Dear Edward is streaming now on Apple TV+. To see the full interview with Taylor Schilling, check out the video below.
