Big Brother 28: Trapped Salina, thirsty for Rome, twerking with Angela

Big Brother 28 premiered on CBS this week with an exciting cast of established reality TV stars and brand-new faces competing for a grand prize of $750,000. Among them are Survivor winner Dee Valladares, American Idol alum Lyric Medeiros, Big Brother 26 star Angela Murray, and Salina EsTitties of RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 and RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 11. On this show, Salina goes by her out-of-drag name, Jason De Puy.

The first week of BB28 was filled with pleasantries, early gaming, and unfiltered chaos — ingredients that one can expect from week 1 of the show in recent years. The fans are already thirsting over certain hunks, having a blast with memes and GIFs from the Big Brother 28 live feeds, and shifting their opinions about certain players based on how they're playing the game.

There's a bit to unpack, so let's get to it.

Salina/Jason gets emotional over missing family and bonding with costars.

The Big Brother live feeds captured an emotional moment from Salina/Jason getting emotional in the storage room. Given that this is Big Brother — a reality TV haven for entertaining nonsense and brain rot — this truly emotional scene took place while Jason also held "what [appeared] to be a jar of paprika."

Because of course it did.

This first week, Jason also discussed not being around "these many straight people" in his regular life, noting that he was struggling to make friends and be himself without fear of judgment. In a conversation with Angela, Jason revealed that his mom had recently passed away and suggested that Angela was like his "protector" in the Big Brother house.

Jason's game moves and interpersonal relations started working as week 1 went on. Namely, Jason was successfully befriending some of the muscle hunks who often win several competitions every Big Brother season — guys like Jack "Rome" Seymour in the season 28 cast.

Jason also won a "safety" competition this week that made him immune from going on the elimination block and being evicted for the entire first week. And, in a scene showing all 17 houseguests dancing in a circle, Jason pulled out some lip sync for your life moves that had everyone gagged and shook.

Rome is the heartthrob of season 28, and Big Brother fans are going feral.

Rome, a 28-year-old pickleball coach from Delray Beach, Florida, is the typical muscle hunk that gets cast on Big Brother to start a showmance, win several competitions, and often goes on to win the whole season. They've been so dangerous in this game, historically, that several of them were purposely eliminated first — or as early as possible — in recent seasons. But even as Rome wins competitions and starts showmances in week 1, it's clear that the other BB28 players, and even the fandom, are all seeing him with different eyes.

Unlike most guys that fit this archetype in past Big Brother seasons, Rome is saying all the right things.

His politics seem to be A-OK, too, as far as we know so far.

Rome's even a fan of Zohran Mamdani, actually.

Some fans are already reciting Lana Del Rey lyrics.

When in Rome, just wear "little booty jorts," I guess.

Even a potential "mustache mullet guys" alliance is turning into back rubs.

Things can change from one second to the next on 24/7 live feed reality competition shows like Big Brother, but Rome has gotten a huge stamp of approval from both fans and houseguests so far.

Salina/Jason's plan to seemingly use emotions to manipulate allies has already been exposed.

A few BB28 fans had been clocking that Jason aka Salina was perhaps using actual feelings to manipulate Angela's emotions and turn her into an ally. Those suspicions were confirmed during an episode of Big Brother 28 featuring a segment in which Jason laughed after having an emotional exchange with Angela, and then declared in a private Diary Room confessional that this had been his plan all along.

"Being emotional around Angela gives her purpose to come and be 'mama of the house.' But if I can up the ante and put on the waterworks a little bit more — so she feels emotionally attached to me — I'mma use it."

This manipulation tactic blew up in Jason's face even further as he openly devised a plan to target Big Brother "veterans" first — the biggest returnee of all being, well, Angela, who competed in season 26 and is back for a second chance in the game.

Angela finds out Salina/Jason's plan and feels betrayed.

It doesn't take long for Jason's plan to target Big Brother returnees to reach Angela. She is shocked and appalled by the discovery, and it seems like more people in the house are on her side than on Jason's.

Jason doesn't seem entirely aware that her plan to target Big Brother "veterans" is going around the house, but Angela has confirmed how she feels during a Diary Room confessional that aired in an episode of BB28. To put it simply: She's pissed off.

Angela's list of clocking Jason's game is hilarious. For one, she saw him asking Lyric for step-by-step help to cook rice, even though Jason had told Angela he knows how to cook rice. When discussing if Big Brother "vets" were being targeted, Jason told Angela he wasn't aware of such a thing. Jason also told Angela he hoped that no one would get "nasty with any personal stuff," despite theorizing that Angela was a "bad, low-budget actor."

So, yeah, Angela is pissed, and BB28 fans are fastening their seatbelts for a bumpy ride.

Meanwhile, Angela dominates the funny memes, GIFs, and clips from Big Brother 28.

Whether you like her or hate her, Angela is a dominant force in the hilarious memes, GIFs, and clips of Big Brother 28 so far.

Why is Angela on the floor, inside the Head of Household room, twerking? No idea, but it's iconic.

She's also hilariously eavesdropping on private conversations.

In stealth mode, Angela can listen to full exchanges that go on for several minutes.

When apologizing for being paranoid, she explains that maybe she was just tired.

Last but certainly not least, Angela also had a twerking moment with Jason, which was even funnier given the tensions at play.

It's hard to imagine that Angela will forgive Jason and move on in this game with him as an ally. But as Julie Chen-Moonves reminds viewers every week, one should always "expect the unexpected" on Big Brother.
