Gus Kenworthy's 80 for Brady Gay Kiss Edited Out of Film

With an Avengers-level lineup of gay icons such as Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field, many LGBTQ+ people are looking forward to watching 80 for Brady.

Making a cameo in 80 for Brady is out Olympic athlete Gus Kenworthy, who plays the boyfriend of Brian Jordan Alvarez. During his cameo, Kenworthy was supposed to have a kissing scene with Alvarez – which was filmed but edited out of the film.

Kenworthy told Variety:

“They said they had to cut it for time, but I think they cut it for Middle America. They used the script for one take, but then we did it like four or fives times where we would just ad-lib insults at each other and then make out.”

“Some of them got raunchy,” Kenworthy noted. He then said with a laugh, “Release the tapes!”

When reached for comment by Variety, “reps for Tom Brady, Paramount Pictures, and production company Fifth Season declined to comment for this story.”

Having this kissing scene edited out of 80 for Brady must’ve been disappointing for Kenworthy, who recently expressed his desire to lead a gay rom-com. He added, “I’ve been taking classes and auditioning a lot.”

Here’s to hoping for a director’s cut of 80 for Brady that includes Kenworthy and Alvarez’s kiss!
