Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan are on a roadtrip across America filled with criminal suitcases, classic Coen weirdos, southern accents, and lesbianism in the first trailer for Drive-Away Dolls!
Ethan Coen is teaming up with his wife (Tricia Cooke) this time instead of his brother Joel to bring Drive-Away Dolls to the world. The movie is described as a comedy caper that “follows Jamie (Qualley), an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian (Viswanathan) who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way.”
The trailer has tons of that classic Coen flavor, with quirky criminals, thick accents, road trips, and average people going on above-average adventures.
Jamie and Marian make a great team as they play wonderfully off each other’s opposite personalities, and Beanie Feldstein joins as a friend of theirs who’s also a cop.
Drive-Away Dolls also stars Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp, and Matt Damon.
It releases in theaters nationwide on Friday, September 22.
