After being repeatedly delayed by the Hollywood strikes, director Luca Guadagnino's sexy tennis movie Challengersfinally has a release date and a brand new steamy trailer, and we couldn't be more excited!
In the film, Emmy-winning Euphoria and Dune star Zendaya plays former tennis prodigy Tashi Duncan, who finds herself entangled in a complicated love triangle. After her career is cut tragically short by an injury, she begins to coach her tennis-pro husband Art (Mike Faist), but when he goes on a losing streak, she suggests he enter a "challenger" tournament where he must face off against his former best friend and Tashi's ex Patrick (Josh O'Connor).
When asked by IndieWire what he thought about straight actors playing queer characters — the trailer strongly hints at a three-way sexual relationship — Guadagnino said, "I try not to be part of any part of any kind of mainstream discourse. If you are not part of it then you can do whatever you want. I think the topic is idiotic. Because actors are asked to act."
The film was originally set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival and then have a theatrical release starting last fall, but because of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in Hollywood, the movie's premiere was postponed. Now that we finally have a release date, it's time to get excited for this sexy film!
Challengers will premiere in theaters on April 26, 2024.

The trailer starts off strong with Art and Patrick sitting shirtless on the side of a tennis court, eating bananas while staring each other down. Nothing sexual is happening, but we can already feel the tension radiating off of the two athletes.
