A good doll doesn't stay down.
M3GAN, the star of one of the most fun and profitable movies of 2023 so far, will be coming back in a sequel to her hit horror movie.
M3GAN 2.0 is set to debut in theaters on January 17, 2025. It will see the return of screenwriter Akela Cooper (who also wrote another campy horror classic, Malignant) and stars Alison Williams and Violet McGraw.
Williams plays Gemma, the inventor of the M3GAN android, and McGraw plays her niece who forms a special bond with the android.
Blumhouse head Jason Blum tweeted about his excitement for the film, revealing the title.

"After I first saw the movie, we had a good sense that a sequel might really work," Blum told Variety. "So, we broke our cardinal rule and we started talking about a sequel before the movie was released. I felt so bullish that we started entertaining a sequel earlier than we usually do."
M3GAN became an instant queer icon as soon as the first trailer was released. The moment gays across the internet saw a doll with impeccable fashion, a perfectly laid wig, the sassiest comebacks this side of Drag Race, and dance moves to die for, we knew we were in love.
The film also resonated with queer fans because of themes of found family and queer love found in the actual story. Once we got past the iconic dance moves, attitude, and c*ntiness, M3GAN was actually a story about three women coming together to form a family after tragedy strikes. There even seemed to be a romance blooming between the android and her creator.
Maybe M3GAN 2.0 will get the chance to start a family with Gemma like she wanted to the first time!
M3GAN is currently playing in theaters.
