Our current obsession (and Hot List honoree) FKA twigs appears in a mesmerizing photoshoot for the Fall Issue of V Magazine, out now.
In the interview, the singer opens up about her "control freak" reputation and speaks about the double-standards in the music industry.
FKA twigs (real name: Tahliah Barnett) has received critical acclaim for her debut album, LP1, which was nominated for Mercury Prize last week. Her upcoming US tour is selling out fast, but we already got her tickets!

About her new album, LP1:
"Working with so many different people, it meant that I had to really focus on my own vision and my own stamp. I'm always determined to do something that really feels like me, and I don't want to copy anyone or have anyone be able to compare me to anyone."

On receiving snarky comments in the studio:
"When I'm at the computer, I'm like a little mole staring up at the screen. And people will walk in and be like, 'Oh, check you out, using the computer!' They don't mean it in a harmful way. But if I was a boy they wouldn't say that. Some people, they want to keep you in your place. They want you to do well, but only on their terms. And as soon as you start going beyond that, they just like to kick you back down, so you stay exactly where they want you to be."

Speaking to the rumors in the press about being a control freak:
"This whole control-freak thing, I think it's so silly. Really, I think people are intimidated, or need to be neggy about something. I'm just taking what I do seriously, and I try really hard, because I don't know how long it's gonna last. Not because maybe it will get taken away from me, but I don't know, maybe I will just decide I want to have a baby in two years."
