Jeremy Scott Retrospective Coming to Dallas

Known for his cartoonish couture looks, the designer celebrates 20 years in fashion

As creative director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott has made fashion way less serious and provided eye-catching looks referencing McDonald's, Looney Tunes, cereal boxes, and Barbie. Now, these outfits are being exhibited as works of art.

A retrospective on Scott and his pop culture-infused designs will be on view at the Dallas Contemporary Museum in 2017.

"It's going to be my 20th anniversary next year, so to have the Contemporary do an exhibition of my work is a very exciting and thrilling moment," Scott told WWD while in Dallas. "It'll have things from my entire career. We're still figuring out exactly how we want to use the space. Right now I have the opportunity [to use all 26,000 square feet], but I'm not sure."

The designer also explained why Dallas, which previously hosted Chanel's Metiers d'Art fashion show in 2013, was the perfect location for the retrospective: "Suddenly Dallas has become a big part of my life, and now I feel like I'm part of the fabric of the community here," Scott said. "There is a lot of glamor and fun, and that is nice because sometimes things can be too staid and boring. People really give a little gusto and I like that."

Meanwhile, the designer is busy doing promo for the bio-doc, Jeremy Scott: The People's Designer, which was released on Netflix this month.
