Harry Styles Dons Michael Sam Jersey On Stage

Saturday, Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. is the NFL's deadline for teams to cut down their rosters. Michael Sam survived the first round of cuts and has a decent shot of surviving the second. Though he may have his fair share of detractors, he's got a great many supporters, including 1 Direction's Harry Styles.

Styles wore the number 96 jersey during a concert in St. Louis on Wednesday. The St. Louis Rams, Sam's team, tweeted the photo and Sam tweeted at Styles thanking him for the support.

This comes on the heels of "shower-gate" (a.k.a. ESPN's decision to report on Michael Sam's shower habits) for which ESPN apologized. The Daily Show's Samantha Bee took the sports network to task for stepping in it so badly.

Styles has been a supporter of the LGBT community for some time now and even got a taste of how obnoxious anti-gay bigotry can be when the Westboro Baptist Church picketed a 1 Direction concert.
