Neil Patrick Harris left his wig in a box and his skirts on the rack when he invited New York magazine into his dressing room -- well, three rooms -- backstage at Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
"I have to shower, 'cause I'm covered in sweat and tomato and makeup and glitter," says Harris about his post-show ritual. "Glitter will just never go away."
The latest issue of New York also checks out the Broadway changing rooms of All the Way's Bryan Cranston, A Raisin in the Sun's Denzel Washington, The Cripple of Inishmaan's Daniel Radcliffe, and Of Mice and Men's James Franco.

The musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch opened last Tueday at the Belasco Theatre with Harris, a recent Out cover boy, starring as Hedwig, a fictional East German rock singer and "slip of a girly boy" living as a female after a botched gender-reassignment operation. See Hedwig production photos here.
Hedwig producers have announced a charitable partnership with Hetrick-Martin Institute, "the nation's oldest and largest organization helping gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth to reach their full potential."
