Ellen DeGeneres to Return to Sitcom Life With New NBC Show

Openly gay 2 Broke Girls writer Liz Feldman will pen the script and exec produce

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC is teaming with Ellen DeGeneres for a lesbian-themed comedy pilot titled One Big Happy. The sitcom centers on a lesbian who gets pregnant just as her straight male best friend meets and marries the love of his life. No word yet on the cast for the show, but Liz Feldman, an openly lesbian writer on 2 Broke Girls, will pen the script and exec produce alongside DeGeneres.

As THR notes: "NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt, who is openly gay, has a history of LGBT-themed programming dating back to his time as the head of Showtime, where he greenlighted lesbian-themed The L Word as well as a U.S. adaptation of gay-themed Queer as Folk."

DeGeneres is set to host the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, and is currently listed as the No. 2 Most Powerful LGBT person in America on Out's most recent Power List.
