The Catholics in Media Associates has given ABC’s hit show its 2012 television award
It may seem a bit counterintuitive, but according to THR, the Catholics in Media Associates has given ABC's Modern Family its 2012 television award. Maybe that does confirm our thoughts that it's our "new normal."
Barbara Gangi, a CIMA founding member and the honorary chairwoman of the event, told the Catholic News Service that the organization is known for its "questionable, even controversial" honorees, adding, "Even among our own group!"
The show's portrayal of Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) as dad's with an adopted daughter (who has been known to talk dirty) can seem to be controversial but has been popular with audiences. And who knew the Catholics would like it?
CIMA president Haskell Vaughn Anderson III said the group's mission is "not to criticize what we don't like, but to praise what we do."
