True Blood Headed To Your Local Comic Shop

True Blood - A Message from Alan Ball: Comic Book Series
Uploaded by dreadcentral. - Full seasons and entire episodes online.

This past weekend at San Francisco's Wondercon, it was announced that IDW Publishing would release a True Blood comic series this summer. The video above, which was played at the convention, shows Alan Ball discussing what role the comics will play in the world of True Blood. While it will involve some of the same characters as the series, it will also expand the world we see on the show.

Ball said he and the show's writers were working closely with the creative team behind the comic series so it follows in the same vein as the show. With the news of Lafayette getting a boyfriend, the reveal of a vampire king with his male lover, and the growing sexuality between Bill and Sam, it looks as if this season is gearing up to be a gay 'ol time down south. Ball explains that the comic will let them do things they aren't able to do in the series due to time and budgetary restraints (much like the Buffy: Season Eight comic series). Hopefully this series will expand even further on the highly sexual nature of the show that we've witnessed over the past two seasons, including last year's ongoing orgy scenes.

IDW Publishing is the home of several other movie-inspired series such as Star Trek and Transformers, and the other big news from the panel at Wondercon is the continuation of the Jurassic Park comics from the 90's.

Season Three of True Blood premieres June 13th on HBO, while the first issue of the comic will be available at Comic Con in July. Those dates may seem far away but I'm sure there will be enough tidbits leaked over the next couple months to keep you fangbangers happy.
