The Disney force tasked with marching through the company's animated classics and breathing three-dimensional, live-action magic into them soldiers on.

With varying levels of success with classics like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book, the studio has begun production on its next title revamp, Mulan, and shared an early image of star Liu Yifei as the titular heroine.

Fans of the original film will remember that Mulan disguises herself as a man to join the Chinese army in place of her father whose health is declining. It's hard to say which direction Disney will go in terms of the animal sidekicks, Mushu the dragon (voiced by Eddie Murphy in the 1998 animated film) and Mulan's lucky cricket, a gift from her grandmother. While the mice in the original 1959 animated version of Cinderella were capable of human speech, they were not in the 2015 remake.

Alongside Yifei the film will also star Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Rosalind Chao, Cheng Pei-Pei, Nelson Lee, Gong Li, and Jet Li. The film is slated for a 2020 release.
