The Wakandan royal family has spent the last eight weekends rising through the ranks of box office statistics and they just surpassed another milestone. Having posted an estimated $665.4 million in North America since its February 16 release date, Black Panther has overtaken Titanic to take the spot for the third highest all-time domestic box office performance not adjusting for inflation.

During its debut run Titanic sailed through $600.8 million in ticket sales, adjusting to $1.2 billion with inflation making it the fifth highest grossing film of all time.
Having beaten the odds stacked against it from deep within the entertainment industry, Black Panther became a beast unto itself, claiming the spot as the top-earning Marvel film in the franchise's history, with King T'Challa's gross sitting a lofty $42 million ahead of The Avengers' $623.4 million (and counting).

Black Panther marks a strong start to the year for Marvel and Disney, two studios with more highly-anticipated film releases planned for 2018 including Avengers: Infinity War, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Incredibles 2, and Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.
