Bushwig will bring 200+ queer artists from around the world to New York's Knockdown Center.

Brooklyn's biggest drag festival, Bushwig, returns this weekend for the sixth year, bringing more than 200 international queer performers to The Knockdown Center on Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24.

The two-day lineup will feature a curated mix of rising artists and drag mainstays, including RuPaul's Drag Race alums Alyssa Edwards, Thorgy Thor and Dida Ritz. Headlining the weekend's music is Chicago-based "LGBT" rapper Cupcakke, Italian DJ Fabrizio Mammarella and The Juan Maclean from DFA Records.

Since its launch in 2012, Brooklyn-based founders Horrorchata and Babes Trust have created an inclusive space where drag performances intersect with everything from art installations to disco dance floors and live music. This year, Bushwig will host a range of locally sourced food and a boutique with more than 30 vendors selling wigs, clothing, jewelry and more.

"To create an opportunity for anyone to experience and participate in the art and culture of drag, music, and love has been the intention of Bushwig since day one," Horrorchata says. "What's come of Bushwig over the last six years celebrates the drag community which has always, and continues to inspire pop culture."

Bushwig 2017 is expected to have record ticket sales, following Sasha Velour's Drag Race Season 9 crowning. The Brooklyn-based drag star has long been devoted to the local scene and frequently performed at the grassroots drag festival. Last year's attendance hit more than 2,250, and this year's will surely break Bushwig records--a big win for a festival that featured less than 40 acts in its first year.
