DVD: Whats better than staring at openly gay British hottie (and former Out cover boy) John Barrowman for an hour? Watching him make out/battle with Buffys James Marsters. Marsters doesnt make his first appearance until the second season premiere, but thankfully Torchwood: The Complete First Season will be released on January 22, so you can get caught up in time. Barrowman plays a bisexual alien hunter on the BBC cult favorite, which seamlessly mixes the sci-fi with the sexy -- think love child of Heroes and Queer as Folk. The seven-disc set features all thirteen first season episodes as well as cast and crew commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and outtakes.
TUBE: Fantasia breaking her shoe upon the discovery of her win and urban superstar Clay Aiken performing Bridge Over Troubled Water in front of a black gospel choir may have been classic TV moments, but our favorite part of American Idol will always be the lame-duck auditioners presented for Simons flogging and public condemnation. While there will only be one Nate, this year gives us a whole new ragtag team of misfits to embrace the hearts and minds of America. Just look at Alexis . To watch the losers, the winners, and Paula Abduls descent in Nelly OHara-esque pill fueled drug oblivion, check out American Idol on Tuesday, January 22 at 8 p.m. on Fox. FLICK: We kind of hate T.R. Knight for snagging Katherine Heigl as his resident girlfriend. Her chain-smoking, outspoken pro-queer politics, nervous wit, and status as a fallen Mormon make her the perfect gal-pal to throw back dollar well drinks at Feathers on a Wednesday night. So chances are well be seeing 27 Dresses, her first shot at Julia Roberts rom-com fame. Ditching the frat boy comedy of Knocked Up, this time around Heigl stars as Jane, a perpetual bridesmaid who preaches the benefits of hot hate sex with random strangers and ultimately bags dreamboat James Marsden. 27 Dresses is now playing in theaters nationwide. Head over to Apple.com to check out the theatrical trailer.
TUNES: Youve got to love Cat Power. The Florida-based songstress is the creative mind behind the hauntingly beautiful Good Woman and her take on Sea of Love, featured prominently in Juno, is one of the best covers to emerge in recent years. The singer, born Charlyn Chan Marshall, further explores her talent for reinvigorating classic songs with Jukebox, the latest installment in her collection of covers. This time around, she tackles Bob Dylans I Believe in You, Joni Mitchells Blue, and takes a feminist approach to Hank Williamss Ramblin Man. Jukebox will drop into stores on January 22.
