There's only one Trixie Mattel.
The Out coverstar is quickly achieving world domination as she continues to slay every corner of the music industry. Whether she's performing sold-out sets at the biggest music festivals in the world, hosting her popular podcast The Bald and the Beautiful with Katya, or simply posting hilarious videos for the sake of it, Mattel is the name on everyone's lips.
Even though Pride Month is one of her busiest times of the year, Mattel is more than happy to clock in for one of the other major holidays for the LGBTQ+ community... Halloween. With a new album and TV special streaming now for fans to sink their teeth into, the drag legend is creating content she's extremely proud of.
"The gays take Halloween very seriously! Gay people love scary stuff. Life has been scarier! It's just a murderer? That's fine! It's a guy killing your dreams? That's fine too. It's a haunted house? So what?! My dad hates me! We're more afraid of reality, especially in 2026," Mattel tells Out.
To kick off the month of October, Mattel is starring in her own parody of a spooky fundraiser. Trixie's Halloween Mattelathon is a hysterical variety mock telethon that features gorgeous looks, musical brilliance, and a few A-level horror cameos.
"Trixie's at home on Halloween doing a fundraiser because she couldn't get a sponsor or network to pay attention to her special. In Trump's America, I don't think we're going to see high budget drag projects on TV. It started out as a joke, but it actually turned out so fun and good that I weirdly think it'll pay for itself. Trixie not going into debt on a self project? Can you believe it?"
Besides her comedy chops being on full display in her new special, Mattel's musical stylings are predominately featured throughout the film. To accompany the mock telethon, the drag superstar released her new Halloween album 'Till Death Do Us Part.
"I spent the last few years doing dance music. It's been a really good exercise in coming back to my guitar. Sad white boy music is what I call it! For my fans who've been listening to me for over ten years, this is a lot more related to my earlier music. I'm so inspired by dance music now, so you'll hear a little bit of that as well."
There's no denying that 2026 has been a difficult year for the LGBTQ+ community and drag artists around the world. Thankfully, trailblazers like Mattel are laughing through the pain and encouraging everyone else to do the same.
"It's fun to watch a drag queen struggle! What I love about drag is when drag queens are trying to make the best of a bad situation. The music is skipping, the audience doesn't care, your wig falls off... I love when things aren't going right. To me, that's so funny. I love watching Trixie struggle! People want to see me struggle and I'm listening."
Trixie's Halloween Mattelathon is streaming now on YouTube and her new album 'Till Death Do Us Part is available now.
