RuPaul just crowned the winner of season 18, but controversy is already brewing over the rumored cast for the next season of Drag Race.
Season 19 isn’t set to premiere until January 2027, and while the official cast list has yet to be announced, one queen has already come under fire for allegedly being a Trump supporter.
Tammy Faye Brown hasn’t been announced as part of the upcoming cast, but that hasn’t stopped the Drag Race superfans on Reddit from compiling videos proving that the Alabama drag queen is potentially part of the MAGA movement.
So, who is this queen... and are the rumors about her political affiliations true?
Who is Tammy Faye Brown?
Tammy Faye Brown, not to be confused with Drag Race alum Tammie Brown from the very first season of the show and All Stars 1, is the drag name of Gaige Brown.
Brown is a hairstylist and drag performer from northern Alabama, who hosted a dance party at The Furnace in Birmingham back in February, where Drag Race star Saha Colby was performing and having a meet and greet.
Brown posts videos on Instagram and TikTok, showing off both her career as a hairstylist and a drag queen.
Why is Tammy Faye Brown going viral?
from RPDRDRAMA
Brown went viral on April 17 when rumors started spreading that she was being cast on season 19 of Drag Race, and someone reposted an old TikTok video where she said, "I actually voted for Donald Trump."
The post on the Drag Race Reddit forum r/RPDRDRAMA quickly picked up steam, with many people commenting how disappointing it was to see someone who claims to be part of the LGBTQ+ community supporting Trump and the MAGA movement.
"I really don't want to even entertain the idea of this being a nuanced conversation," someone commented on the Reddit thread. "She voted for a man who has actively campaigned on bigotry hatred and is a confirmed rapist and pedo. She betrayed her community to be a part of a community that will throw her under the bus, or worse."
Drag Race has yet to confirm whether or not Brown will be part of the season 19 cast.
Is Tammy Faye Brown a Trump supporter?
Brown has spoken openly about her political beliefs multiple times over the years, and while she has publicly admitted to voting for Trump, she has also said that she doesn’t consider herself a Republican.
Not only did Brown say she voted for Trump in the TikTok video that was reposted on Reddit, but in an interview with Rad Reporting on YouTube in 2021, she claimed, "To me I’m not a Republican, I’m more Democrat than anything," despite admitting that she supported Trump at the time.
In the video, Brown said that because she had plans to start her own cosmetology business, she couldn’t support Joe Biden and his tax plan.
"A lot of people say that Donald Trump is not inclusive of all people, however I would rather be a success and be able to be successful than be included by one person," she said.
In a TikTok video from February 2, Brown acted offended that people in her community think she’s conservative.
"I’m not a Republican, I’m not sowing discord and disunity within our community," she said. "I’m trying to bring it together in coalition, that’s how we get things done. Bringing two communities together to show the injustice and unfair treatment that we are receiving right now is why main priority. Also, safe and inclusive space for everyone in the community. Yeah, I said it."
