In a sequence of events that feels classically sapphic, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor seemingly confirmed the identity of her mystery girlfriend less than a month after coming out as bisexual. I’ve got to say, the sapphic reality TV connoisseurs here at Them love this for her.
Kelsie Carpenter, a Denver-based social media creator and barber, posted a video of herself to TikTok on July 21 with accompanying text reading, “When I slid into my girlfriend’s DM’s just hoping she was into girls.” Taylor commented underneath, “Folded.”

Fans had already been speculating about the identity of Taylor’s new girlfriend after the reality television star shared that she had been seeing a woman during a June 29 interview on Jay Shetty’s podcast On Purpose. Just days after revealing her bisexuality in that interview, the 25-year-old posted a video of herself on July 7 holding hands with the mystery connection slightly off-screen, with the overlaid text, “You’re glowing recently” followed by, “thanks I’m dating a woman now.”
Internet sleuths quickly put the dots together, as the person in the soft-launch video had tattoos and hair that looked suspiciously like Carpenter’s and the world of the sapphic internet is surprisingly small. More people began piecing it together after Taylor and her girlfriend were spotted at what seemed to be an amusement park date to LEGOLAND with Taylor’s two children in tow. TMZ captured photos of the pair caressing, with what appeared to be Carpenter’s tattooed arms around Taylor.
When she publicly came out, Taylor told Shetty that she had known she was bisexual since childhood but only recently felt comfortable and confident enough to explore her sexuality. Going through a breakup earlier this year helped spur her decision.
“I went through a breakup at the beginning of this year, and I feel like for just a long period of my life, I was constantly living my life for other people,” she said during the interview. “I think honestly that breakup was like a blessing in disguise because I feel like now I’ve been fully able to just focus on Layla.”
