Any hopes of seeing drag queen Trixie Mattel in Dead by Daylight seem to have gotten the axe.

Prominent Dead by Daylight concept artist, leaker and news account @dvveet shared alleged insider information about an unsuccessful collaboration between RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 3 winner Trixie Mattel and the beloved survival horror video game.

Per @dvveet’s post, Mattel’s likeness had allegedly been in the works as a planned skin for Kate Denson, one of the game’s playable characters, known in-universe as “survivors.” According to the leaker, Mattel allegedly was in talks for a skin in 2023 for a release that would have coincided with 2024 LGBTQ+ Pride, but those plans were allegedly scrapped when Trixie took a personal break from her career. Mattel did take a months-long hiatus that year, sharing her experiences with burnout and an autoimmune disorder in a video message to fans.

Dvveet alleged that the game developer, Behaviour Interactive, also known as BHVR, approached Mattel a year later, as well, but that negotiations “took a sudden turn after an alleged ignorant comment was made.” After the comment, Mattel reportedly backed out.

Reached by Them on Monday, a BHVR spokesperson said, “We have no public statement to share. Please note that Dead by Daylight doesn’t comment on gossips and rumors.” Them has also reached out to Trixie Mattel for comment and will update this story if we hear back.

“After this, she didn’t speak about DBD for a while,” Dvveet posted. “Since late 2025, she’s spoken positively about DBD. Whether she’s open to a collaboration again is unknown.”

Dvveet added, “I say rightfully, even without knowing the comment, as that’s her right as a minority to determine what is or isn’t disrespectful towards her.”

Dvveet said that while he doesn’t know the specific comment that was made, he does know who allegedly made it. He added that while he wouldn’t share the comment or the name of the particular developer, he claims that Mattel would have voiced the legendary skin and that the jury is still out as to whether this collaboration will be revisited.

The skins included in the alleged leak include several outfits that Mattel has worn while on RuPaul’s Drag Race, including her skater girl entrance look from All Stars 3.

The Dead by Daylight leaker has previously dropped lore about the botched Mattel collab. In December, Dvveet said that Mattel was a “planned legendary” for Denson. Dvveet said Mattel had chosen Denson for her skin because Denson, like Mattel, is a country singer.

In a follow-up tweet, Dvveet also mentioned the alleged comment made to Mattel at BHVR, saying that it was “very ignorant” and she was “rightfully offended.”

In a Reddit thread dedicated to the most recent leak, players expressed regret that Mattel had reportedly experienced a negative comment and that the community would not be able to play her in the game.

“I love how horror is such a huge part of the LGBTQ community, and I love when celebrities show love for the games they play,” one person wrote. They continued, “Hopefully one day she’s up for a collab again, would main the fuck out of her. But I absolutely get why she backed out.”

In 2019, while playing Dead by Daylight in a video for Polygon, Trixie Mattel shared that she had been playing the survival horror game, which originally released in 2016, for around two years. While appearing on the podcast The Savage Situation that same year, she called the game her “all-time favorite” while discussing other games that she loves, including Mortal Kombat 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

In 2023, Mattel also hosted a Dead by Daylight tournament fundraiser for the It Gets Better Project that was prominently featured on the game’s official social media channels.

In 2022, when Dead by Daylight released its first playable LGBTQ+ character, David King, the team behind the survival horror game acknowledged that its queer and trans fanbase are essential to its success.

“One of the cornerstones of that community are our LGBTQIA2+ players, who continue to elevate Dead by Daylight with their tireless passion for horror, gaming, and of course – horror gaming,” the team said at the time. “The fact that our character roster did not openly feature any confirmed LGBTQIA2+ representation was something we have been determined to change.”
