Beloved Irish singer-songwriter Sinéad O'Connor has passed away at the age of 56, according to an initial report from The Irish Times.
Known for her trademark buzzcut hair and her hits like "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "Mandrika," O'Connor was an icon to LGBTQ+ folks.
In a 2000 interview with Curve Magazine, she publicly came out as a lesbian, but shortly afterward retracted that coming out, saying she did not want to specifically label her sexuality and put herself in a box. She has had relationships with both men and women.
The news is breaking. We will add more to this report as more information becomes available.
